Does your little one struggle with big feelings?

Here's how I can help

Most parents who bring their child to therapy have navigated a challenging path to get help. You’ve tried the parenting tips from friends and family, read the books, blogs and watched the videos. You’ve probably asked for support from people you trust and still struggle to help your child. You have a GREAT kid, but you worry about them.

I got you!

Therapy can help with a wide variety of issues:

  • Behaviors at school

  • Problems at home

  • Challenges with peers

  • Struggles with self-esteem and communication

I work collaboratively with parents to help find practical solutions to problem behaviors using a relationship-first approach.

How I work with children

At the start of therapy, I’ll meet with you and your child together. During this session, we’ll gather important information about your family and your child, including the specific behaviors or concerns you’d like to address. I believe that families play a crucial role in a child’s life, and your involvement in therapy helps ensure the best possible outcome for your child.

My sessions are designed to be engaging and fun. Depending on your child’s interests, we may use art, games, or play to explore and address their feelings and challenges. With my advanced training in experiential and play therapy techniques, including sandtray therapy, I help children express themselves in creative and meaningful ways. By the end of each session, your child will leave with new coping skills and excited to come back.

Adolescence is hard. Really hard.

Therapy with teens

The child you’ve known and loved their whole life might be transformed into a cranky, defiant teen or pre-teen. Your loving, outgoing child might suddenly seem down, quiet and not their usual self. You might feel at a loss of what to do–you just want your teenager to be safe and healthy.

Adolescent therapy provides a safe, supportive space where teens can work through emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. It helps teens understand their emotions, build coping skills, and strengthen relationships with family and peers. Whether dealing with anxiety, depression, identity issues, or the pressures of growing up, therapy empowers teens to develop resilience, improve their mental health, and grow into confident, independent individuals.

At the beginning of therapy, I’ll meet with you and your teen together, then spend most of the session with your teen alone. I understand that teenagers crave privacy and independence, and I’m committed to making therapy feel like a safe space from the very start. It can be helpful if you come prepared with a list of up to three things you’re most concerned about with your teen, as this can guide our initial conversation.

Even when working with a teen, parental involvement is incredibly important. I’ll work with you to develop a plan that includes both individual sessions for your teen and family sessions, ensuring that we’re all on the same page for the best outcome.

My typical sessions are focused on creating a safe, supportive, and friendly environment for your teen. I take time to learn what your teen is passionate about and incorporate those interests into the activities we do together. With my advanced training in experiential and play therapy techniques, including sandtray therapy, I help your teen express themselves in creative and meaningful ways. By the end of each session, your teen will leave feeling heard, understood, and equipped with new coping skills.
